Stylfile Nipper Clippers

Meet Tom and his Inventions‘I truly believe everyone has an invention in them and I can’t wait to help bring yours to market!’

Tom Pellereau was the winner of the 2011 BBC Apprentice programme with Alan Sugar. Since then he has brought many of his inventions successfully to market including the popular Stylfile ‘Nipper Clipper’ that safely cuts babies’ and children’s finger nails and is stocked by JoJo. He has an avid interest in the nursery market, having a young son of his own.

Invent with Tom and JoJo Maman Bébé

JoJo has teamed up with Tom to give inventors of new nursery products the opportunity to reach a wider market and the chance to be stocked by us.

No matter how good an idea, getting it into retail stores is incredibly difficult. As consumers we walk into shops every week, however few would believe just how complicated it is to get a product on a shelf. Not only do you have to gain a meeting with the right buyer and sell your idea, but inventors have to navigate all their other requirements, from margins to packaging, barcoding to lead times which can be bewildering to the first time inventor.

How the project works

If you have a nursery product or toy that is new to the market or you are in the process of developing a new nursery idea, we are offering you the chance to get your invention in front of Tom and to be stocked in our stores and online. All you have to do is complete the form, submit your invention to Tom and he will pick his favourite ideas. The winner will be stocked by us and could become a household name.

WINNER: Aloka Sleepy Lights £40

The inventor
We are a best friend duo, Nicola Barnett and Julie McLean, living only doors away from one another. We have 7 children between us aged between a few months and 10 years. We’re always on the lookout for unique products that are long lasting, have style and that all our kids can enjoy. Out of this passion Potwells Trading was born, a distribution company of exclusive children’s products. All of the products we source have the children's seal of approval and are being used and loved by them as we speak. Never do we make a buying decision without consulting the kids and we never make a decision without us making sure they are practical as well as look cool.

Product info

With oodles of passion for finding something new and our love for product development we found a night light designed by Michael Atkinson in Australia. We saw so much potential and the seeds of a great idea so we partnered together to develop the Aloka Sleepy Light. We worked together on the design, packaging, and rebranding to launch a product which is now a beautifully packaged, visually stunning and beautifully designed remote controlled LED night light.

We have been overwhelmed by the initial response from parents amazed at how well they help their children get into a sleep routine. The Sleepy Lights cycle through a number of softly glowing colours and can be controlled by remote control. Pre-schoolers especially love the remote as it allows them to pick their favourite colour, and can also be used by parents as a tool for teaching children the colours.

WINNER: Pram Pegs £8

The Inventor
I started Little Rosa in 2015 after having my first child Sienna Rosa who was quickly nicknamed Little Rosa by our family. Little Rosa then seemed like a natural choice for the name of our new company. I have loved parenthood so far but no one could have prepared me for the challenges.

Product development
My daughter, Sienna, was not a good sleeper during the day and I would often resort to taking her out in the car or buggy for a nap. The problem I found when taking her for a walk was that she always wanted to look at me rather than resting her eyes for that well needed sleep. I used an extra-large breathable muslin blanket to hang over the pram to minimise any distractions and that worked perfectly. It also protected her from wind or light sun which can easily disturb a sleeping baby. The main issue was that the fabric was so lightweight it can easily blow off the pram which is when I had the idea for Pram Pegs.

Product info
Pram Pegs allow you to attach your muslin or other fabric to a pram or secure other items to your travel system thereby reducing the risk of loss or damage. Pram Pegs are a versatile accessory for any parent. They are universal so they will fit any part of any pram or buggy tested so far. One of the best features of the pegs is that you can position the muslin at any angle or side and therefore do not need to cover the baby completely.
Pram Pegs are multi-use and versatile. They are perfect for the securing that favourite teddy to the pram giving your child easy access whilst keeping them safe. You can also use them to secure lightweight handbags, stop that changing bag from slipping down the frame or even attaching tablecloths at a BBQ!
